Product Repackaging Services (2026)
Restore Sellability — Maximize Recovery
📅 2026-06-28 · 🕑 6 min read · QuickShipment
Repackaging is one of the highest-ROI services in the 3PL returns ecosystem. A product that's functionally perfect but has a damaged outer box is often written off as unsellable — when in reality, 15 minutes of repackaging work can restore it to full retail value. This guide covers repackaging scenarios, processes, and costs at QuickShipment's Delaware facility.
When Repackaging Is Needed
Repackaging is needed in three primary scenarios: 1. Returned product with damaged outer packaging (box torn, crushed, or missing) but functional product inside; 2. Supplier packaging that doesn't meet Amazon FBA requirements (wrong material, no barcode, insufficient cushioning); 3. DTC brand applying custom branded packaging over manufacturer boxes for premium unboxing experience.
Repackaging Process at QuickShipment
Our repackaging workflow: receive and inspect the unit, photograph original and damaged packaging, clean the product if needed, transfer to replacement packaging (poly bag, plain box, or branded box), apply new FNSKU label or brand label, quality check the completed unit, log in inventory dashboard with "repackaged" notation. Turnaround: same-day for standard items, 24–48 hours for complex assemblies.
Amazon FBA Repackaging Requirements
When repackaging for FBA, the replacement packaging must: be at least as protective as original, not create a misleading presentation of the product, include all required labeling (FNSKU, suffocation warnings if applicable), and be sealed if the original was sealed. Items repackaged with plain polybag or plain box do not require any disclosure of repackaging.
Custom Branded Repackaging for DTC
DTC brands increasingly use repackaging to create premium unboxing experiences even when shipping standard products. Custom tissue paper, branded inserts, sticker seals, and custom mailer boxes can be pre-kitted at QuickShipment and applied during pick-pack operations — effectively turning every outgoing order into a branded experience without the brand touching a single package.
Cost of Repackaging at QuickShipment
Basic repackaging (polybag with label): $0.75/unit. Standard box repackaging: $1.50–$2.00/unit. Complex assembly repackaging (multi-component): quoted by project. Custom branded repackaging: $2.00–$4.00/unit depending on materials. These costs are typically covered by the recovery value of the repackaged unit in a single resale.
