Product Packaging Requirements

Every product sent to Amazon FCs must be packaged to withstand normal warehouse conditions. Products must not require additional prep by Amazon staff (unless you've opted into Amazon's prep service, which costs extra). The packaging must protect the product from damage during receiving, stowing, picking, and shipping. Six-sided drop test: packaging must survive a drop from 4 feet on each face.

Box and Carton Requirements

Cartons must meet these specifications:
• Maximum weight: 50 lbs (single-item exceptions may apply)
• Maximum dimensions: 25" on any side
• Cartons must not bulge, be difficult to close, or have protruding contents
• No strings, rubber bands, or loose materials
• Label must be on the largest flat surface, free from wrinkles
• Suffocation warning required on poly bags with 5"+ openings

Weight and Size Restrictions

Standard-size products: under 18" × 14" × 8" and under 20 lbs. Oversize products: up to 108" in length and up to 150 lbs (with surcharges). Oversize products require special handling and typically incur additional prep costs. Single-item boxes over 50 lbs require a 'Team Lift' label and special FC handling.

Hazmat and Restricted Items

Hazardous materials (hazmat) including batteries, flammables, and certain chemicals require special documentation and FC approval before shipping. Amazon's ASIN-level hazmat classification determines whether your product qualifies. Never ship hazmat products without prior Amazon approval — doing so results in shipment destruction and potential account suspension.

Common Rejection Reasons at Amazon FCs

The top reasons Amazon rejects shipments:
1. Missing or unreadable FNSKU labels
2. Poly-bag thickness below minimum
3. Missing suffocation warnings
4. Carton weight over 50 lbs
5. Mixed ASINs in cartons without proper box content info
6. Incorrect or expired box labels
7. Products not matching shipment plan
8. Hazmat products without approval
