Amazon requires poly-bags for products that could spill, leak, contaminate other items, or be damaged by moisture or dust. This includes: apparel and clothing items, stuffed animals and soft toys, products with multiple loose pieces, items that could attract insects, fragile products prone to dust damage, and any liquid or semi-liquid products.
Amazon specifies minimum thickness based on bag size:
• Bags under 12" × 12": minimum 1.5 mil thickness
• Bags 12" × 12" or larger: minimum 2 mil thickness
Bags that don't meet thickness requirements will be rejected during FC induction and you'll be charged a prep fee.
Any poly-bag with an opening of 5 inches or larger must display a suffocation warning. The warning must be permanently printed (not a stick-on label) and be visible and legible. Pre-printed bags are the easiest solution — purchase bags from FBA-compliant suppliers who include the warning in the manufacturing.
All poly-bags must be sealed — either heat-sealed or secured with tape. The FNSKU barcode label must be applied to the outside of the sealed bag. Do not place the label inside the bag. The barcode must be fully scannable through the label surface, not through the bag material.
The most frequent errors are: using bags that are too thin, missing suffocation warnings, placing FNSKU inside the bag, using unsealed open-top bags, and double-bagging when single is required. Each of these results in rejection or additional FC prep fees.
