Product repackaging is the process of placing an item into new packaging — either because the original packaging was damaged, doesn't meet Amazon's requirements, or because you're creating a new bundle or multi-pack.
When Is Repackaging Required?
- Original packaging is damaged or crushed in transit
- Manufacturer packaging doesn't meet Amazon's retail-ready standards
- Creating bundles or multi-packs from individual units
- Returns processing: restoring returned items to sellable condition
- Rebranding or private label packaging changes
Amazon Packaging Standards
Amazon requires that packaging protect the product through their fulfillment network. Products must not shift inside packaging, expose sharp edges, or arrive at customers' homes damaged. Insufficient packaging leads to product returns and negative reviews.
Repackaging for Returns
When a customer returns a product, it often arrives in damaged or incomplete original packaging. Our Claymont facility inspects returned units, repackages sellable items into appropriate replacement packaging, and relabels with current FNSKUs for Amazon restocking.
