Exactly What We Do to Each Unit
"FBA prep" covers a lot of ground, so here is the scope in plain terms. Every unit that passes our bench gets checked against the same list before it is packed for the fulfilment centre:
- Received and counted. Cartons are opened, counted against your packing list and photographed. A discrepancy is reported to you the same day, before anything else happens.
- Inspected for damage. Transit damage, factory defects, missing components. Anything that would fail at Amazon fails here first, where it costs you nothing to find out.
- Existing barcodes covered. Every UPC, EAN or supplier code other than the FNSKU is covered. An exposed old barcode is the single most common reason a unit is logged against the wrong ASIN.
- FNSKU applied. On a flat surface, no seams or curves, printed at 100% scale with the quiet zone intact.
- Protective prep where required. Poly bag with a suffocation warning where the opening is five inches or more; bubble wrap for fragile items; sets bagged and labelled as one sellable unit.
- Carton built and labelled. Box weight and dimensions recorded, carton labels applied, shipment plan created in Seller Central.
- Logged to your dashboard with photographs attached, so the record exists before the truck leaves.

FNSKU and barcode labelling is included at every tier — it is not a separate line. Poly bagging is $0.75 per unit, bubble wrapping $0.90, bundles and kits $0.90. Carton and parcel receiving is free; pallet receiving is $25.00 per pallet. Discounts apply automatically as your volume rises; there is nothing to negotiate and no minimum to hit.
The 48-Hour Standard, and What Breaks It
Standard turnaround is 48 hours from receipt, with receiving and logging inside the first 24. That holds for the large majority of shipments. It does not hold when:
- The carton count does not match the packing list and we are waiting on your answer.
- Units arrive needing prep you have not authorised — an unbagged textile, for example, where we need your instruction before adding a $0.75 line.
- The shipment includes something on our restricted list that needs approval first.
In each case the clock stops on our side and starts again when we hear back. We would rather tell you that plainly than quietly miss a date.
Why This Became Mandatory in 2026
Amazon ended its US FBA prep and item labelling services on 1 January 2026. Units that arrive unprepared are no longer fixed for a fee — they are refused, or handled under Amazon's unplanned services terms at the seller's cost. Is there a minimum volume?
No. There is no minimum order, no setup fee and no long-term contract. Sellers start with a hundred units and scale from there.
